This was a baby shower that I hosted for my friend Leah. I chose owls as my theme, and my mom graciously and expertly helped me make plush varieties to use as decor. I had seen them somewhere, and she helped make a pattern and sewed them together. She also made the bunting I hung over the space. It was a big room, so I wanted something that would brighten it up and tie in with everything else I was doing. It was a small shower, so I had all the food arranged on the tables so my guests didn't have to go anywhere. I also prepared notecards for messages to the mother-to-be that guests wrote on using colored pencils that I had attached home-made tissue paper flowers to so they could double as table decor! It was a fun and simple shower, with each guest getting to spend time with the guest of honor.
I planned and executed a baby shower for my good friend Christina. It included an "Aesop's Fables" theme with an italian soda bar and chalkboard favors, all nods to certain aspects of the mother-to-be. We had soup, salad, and bread with delicious cake compliments of the Country Table Bakery. After a blessing from Christina's mom, guests introduced themselves and enjoyed the light menu. During gift opening, guests were invited to embroider woodland creatures that the grandmothers would later turn into a felt book for the expected baby. I was responsible for invites, decor. and execution but had lots of help from her family in the form of ideas and leg-work. Friends also helped with food, set-up, and clean-up. It's great to work with many people to make an exceptional event come together!
